The Restoration of the House
In 2018, a restoration project began to bring the mansion back to life and transform it into what is now Hotel Casa Zañartu.
Throughout the process, the original structure was reinforced while the historic design of the residence was carefully preserved, maintaining its corridors, staircases, and architectural details that define its identity.
After nearly two years of work, the former salons were thoughtfully adapted into 17 rooms across the three levels of the house, preserving the spirit and essence of this historic residence.
History of the House
Casa Zañartu is a heritage mansion built in 1885 for Don Miguel José de Zañartu Santa María, a lawyer and Minister of State closely linked to the early years of the Republic of Chile.
Designed in French neoclassical style, the residence once played a central role in the family and social life of its time, preserving to this day the distinctive character of 19th-century Santiago homes.
Located on Compañía de Jesús Street, in the heart of Santiago’s historic center, the house preserves spaces that still reflect the architecture, traditions, and history of a bygone era.
